Frequently Asked Questions.
What is your experience?
I’ve been working in the mental health field since 2017, providing care in both private practice and non-profit settings as a Registered Psychotherapist and Registered Art Therapist. With over seven years of experience, I’ve supported a wide range of clients, including children, teens, families, and adults facing various personal challenges and systemic barriers. I also facilitate community workshops aimed at increasing mental health awareness.
What is your area of focus?
Most often clients connect with me to receive support managing anxiety, stress, depression and low mood, low self-esteem, boundaries, relationship dynamics and challenges, trauma related symptoms, and experiencing grief and loss. I work from an anti-oppressive, strength-based, trauma-informed lens to provide a safe space for all intersections.
How long is each session and what is your fee?
Sessions are 50 mins long and the fee is $170. The fee for Clinical Supervision is $150 (tax is exempt from both services).
What is a sliding scale?
A sliding scale means I offer reduced-fee spots for clients who need financial flexibility. Please inquire further during your consultation if this is something you require.
What happens during the free 20 minute consultation?
This is a moment for you and I to get to know each other. I'll ask you to share a bit of background and what brought you to seek services. You can also ask questions about my approach, fees and availability to see if this feels like a good fit!
How do I book with you?
The first step is to book a free consultation with me. You can click "Book a Consult" and fill out the information form or you can directly go to my Janeapp using the link below or clicking "Booking Calendar" at the top. If there is no availability, fill out the form and you'll hear from me within 2-3 business days. If all of that is too much, simply email me at arttherapywithsally@gmail.com and let me know what you're looking for.
Do you accept Insurance?
Psychotherapy is covered by most insurance providers, however clients are responsible for their own billing. Please check if you have "Psychotherapy" coverage with your insurance before we start.
What's your cancellation policy?
Clients are asked to cancel or reschedule 48hrs before their session so that I have ample time to reach out to clients on my waitlist. Clients who cancel late will be invoiced a cancellation fee which is typically not covered by insurance companies.
How long does therapy usually take?
The length of time you engage in therapy really depends on the goal you're hoping to achieve along with what's feasible for you. My style and approach is best suited for individuals who understand that healing and growth is an ongoing journey, however I try to accommodate the best I can, acknowledging that long-term therapy is not always realistic or necessary for everyone. Please inquire further during the consultation!
